Hi I’m Polly and i am addicted to books, and not just any old books mind, but ones that inspire me and expand my mind, ones that speak of magic and nature and the powers that be. Ones that explore the universe, this world, and the resonating energies in-between. Ones about witchcraft, druidry and provide excellent food for the mind body, spirit and soul.

Ok so i might of purchased two err three new books today.. *grins*.. for some reason i have an urge to rebuild my library sort of...*ponders this*...

Oh you want to know what i purchased... umm..

The Living Temple of Witchcraft, vol 1, and The Living Temple of Witchcraft, vol 2 and The Mystic Foundation, gosh i guess i will have some reading material over the xmas holidays *looks shifty eyed*

i have a google wave account, in its preview form, which i am a little unsure what that means, but they its all very exciting and in general i am quite enthusiastic about the product.. although currently it is mostly like a glorified instant message sender, its the potential that is kinda cool, i am also wondering if with the preview account will eventually morph into a fully fledge account that has the ability to send and receive emails.

ideally google wave should also incorporate google docs, calendar, the reader, and of course email. there should be functionality for video communication as well as audio, and then finally it should work wonderfully in tandem? combination with the rumoured "itouch table" from apple. *nods*.. but then google wave is open source which means currently there are hundreds of wonderful programming geeks currently creating the functionality that i wish .. just for me right.. *nods more*... and of course apple want to play nice with google, and visa versa.. right... *smiles sweetly*

so all in all i am happy to have a google wave account just cause all the cool kids have them, and i am hoping that more people get invites soon as that will make it much less quite, and much more fun.

then when i got home there were socks, from sockdreams.com.. ohhh.. lovely socks well stockings really, there are odly autumn coloured ones that i am wearing today with the hopes that they stretch a little, cause you know i have thighs, shapely thighs thank you very much.... anyhoo. there are the blue and black strips which i am also hoping with stretch case again with the thighs, *sighs*.. and the neon pink and black strips, which are wonderful and will go very well with my rave kilt.. whoot.. *skips*.. and of course to keep these socks up i got a garter belt.. a industrial looking hockey garter belt.. is lovely.. *nods*...

eek i have been consumed by stuff...tehehe

its really nice that you sent me an invite cause i have wanted one for ages... however it dosen't work, so now i feel like you guys are just teasing, thus while you can't actually see it i am pouting.. quite a bit actually. anyways i will try the link once i get home incase it is some odd work computery thing.. and if that fails i suspect that there will be more pouting, and then probaby a polite email enquiring what went wrong.. *nods*...

in the mean time, please to be making sure its all fixed by the time i get home.. you have two hours or so mmk..

so i was reading Robert Cochrane letters the other day, and there was instructions on how that tradition sets up their altars, with a ring of salt.. and i got an idea, so off to spotlight i went to see if my idea would work.... and hey presto it did, below are the pictures..

took me a while to find the center of the disk but tats and tommy helped, yay for maths people. i then took my trust lino carving tools, and proceeded to carve our a rut? thingo, then painted it and painted a pentagram on it.. pre-masticated wood is very easy to carve, i suspect that when i go and find a round pine chopping board that it will not be as easy to carve our.. but hey... its all fun right.. anyways below are some pictures of what it looks like with the salt.. ohhh.. shiny

so now its back to reading The Temple of Shamanic Witchcraft: Shadows, Spirits and the Healing Journey by Mr Penczak, which i am enjoying quite a bit as it is turning out to be quite some good food for thought, which is always good.. *nods*

apart from the very obvious 42, the meaning of life has been on many peoples minds of late.. its like we are at the beginning of a tipping point of some sort and the momentum is building. people are realising the our capitalist society is outmoded and broken, and going to work for 5 days a week pushing paper around a desk enter things onto a computer and try not to strangle work colleagues, who insist on miro managing everything and every one, *takes breath* for the most part i am ok with this,as it is not a job i have to take home with me, however every now and again i am left wondering "what is this work for?, what meaning does this work have?" its just numbers on a computer and really the context is just to confusing...

ack... then of course my mind shy's away from it all because it seems so vast as to make one go a little crazy around the edges...*ponders this*..

so i guess the way forward the way to start is going to be cleaning out my room... odd but it does make sense..

so i am getting more electronic storage space soon.. ohh glee.. which will free up some space on my laptops hard drive and well give me a place to store more electronic media. mmmm.. quite obviously i have been thinking about this, and quite obviously i might be thinking about obtaining some fun TV media...

and maybe Merlin that everybody is talking about...

also there is a nice rumor going around about a apple itablet which has a 7" or maybe 9" screen.. mmm.. it sounds quite lovely and is meant to be similar to the itouch but bigger.. this makes my inner gadgit geek very happy.. *nods*...

the equinoxes both spring and autumn, are supposedly a time of balance, it is a time when the days and nights are of equal length. in practice however i have found it is actually a chaotic time, things are not in balance, they are in stead wobbly. and as Val mentioned last night things are perhaps not so much a time of balance but a time of finding your balance, which makes sense... also i wonder if the equinoxes are when the earth becomes wobbly on its axis? any astronomers our there who knows of such things? *ponders this*

umm.. yeah.. so in honour of wobbleness i am wearing my lady boots,, it makes the wobbling less obvious.. *grins*

i like that there is an musical wind instrument repair shop down in the grand arcade, and that some of those musical instruments are probably older than the people who fix them. this also leads me to realise that we should be fixing stuff more as opposed to throwing it out and buying a new one. repair & reuse, repair & reuse people

i get confused and somewhat taken aback when people think that i have been babysitting tommy for the last week and a half while his mum tats in Africa.. cause really tommy is a young man rather than a baby, and its been pretty much like having a young flatmate who is pretty good to live with thanks..and i know the lawns will be mowed properly soon or i shall be wanting my money back.. *nods*

i am really vauling some advice i got from rivet on friday and have put it into action and it has made work life much easier, so much easier.. yay

and finally i am really loving googlereader, now that i have set it up, i can read a whole bunch of interesting pagan blogs, and a few friends bloggs that are not lj, but i wanted to read them. it is much like ljfriends page.. so excellent.. you can also put in lj journals into it.. *skips*

blogs i reccomend are Witch of the Forest Philip Carr-Gomm and The Wild Hunt. The Witch of the Forest is crafty, Philip Carr-Gomm is a mystic druid, or should that be druid mystic, both ways fit, and The Wild Hunt is a wrap up of a whole bunch of pagan orientated news with some cometary. which is pretty good. it is how i found out about Marion Weinstein's passing. i think it was perhaps how many Pagans found out about Marion's death this way. odd tho as she died in july, a few months before.. this perplexes me somewhat..

and finally where is the vacuum repair or parts place in Wellington?

oh and a couple of nice letters from MAF <---- said in a booming voice!!!

on thursday a nice package arrive from a nice lady who makes some pretty wonderfully artistic and magical stuff.. ohhh so pretty.. anyhoo we did a swap.. which was great fun, i sent her stuff form kiwiland and she sent me stuff from Caniadia, whee... however MAF, <--- booming voice again here, decided they wanted in on the fun, and removed some of the items from Canidia. MAF is New Zealands boarder biological security making sure that biological items that might be harmful to our tiny islands do not get in.. as a general rule the have a specially trained beagles to sniff out plan material, and quarantine it. when i rang the lady yesterday she said that they had a whole heap of strange pagany type stuff up there waiting to be fumigated. well golly...

so there are essentially two options for fumigations, on is all with the chemicals, eew.. and the second is all with the heat for 15 hours.. umm.. cooking it.. to make sure that the plan material is inert, or that any bugs that might be lingering on feathers.. (sobs and they were crow feathers) are not longer alive.. so to speak.. and as you can imagine this less chemically orientated option is way expensive... thus i had to opt for the items, (sobs crow feathers and wonderful ritual incense) to be destroyed... well i figure that they burn them thus there will be a lovely smell about the office for a spell.. *grins*...

anyhoo.. now for pictures... the first.. MAF sticket on the box<--- again with the voice..

but still the stuff left after MAF had their riffle through was teh awsometastic.. *twirls around*.. see *points down*

also the nice lady from Canada, Sarah, has a Etsy Shop.. where you to can purchase some wonderfully made magical crafts..

i so loved the candles, they are hand dipped and smell divine.. there was also raw silk fabric, we are both crafty peoples.. *grins*, some red ceder powder.. oh nom nom.. and of course a Book.. *bounces*.. published in the late 60's so first wave.. ohhh.. interesting.. so it will be a grand read..

Witch Swaps.. they are heaps of fun and i recommend them..

gosh.. this parenting lark is fraught with things they don't tell you, like getting a phone call from the skool to say that T fell off a unicycle and injured his arm and should go to the doctors for xrays... *que panic stations for polly* OMG what would i tell Tats now that i have broken the kid.. eek eek... panic panic... then there was the phone calls to happyinmotion and tieke who have vehicles in order to puck up the teenager and take him to the emergency doctor... constant update texts keep me from loosing the plot completely *phew*...

last update was that the teenager had nothing broken but sprained and to keep it in a sling for a couple of days, which is good and much *phewing*.. and of course wanting to hug tieke for running him around and making sure he was all good....

in-between all of this drama, there was the important meeting at work, not that i was a part of the meeting, but i did have to set up the room and play hostess with the distracted mostesset...

gosh.. its been a busy morning.. i might need a bucket of tea to clam down.. but it should be all ok... will have to remember to get panadol on the way home,

and then this evening there will be witches, and lessons on seasons oh and fish and chips.. yay...

Three researchers are working to update Voices from the Pagan Census: A National Survey of Witches and Neo-Pagans in the United States, originally published in 2003.

Helen Berger, one of the researchers, writes, "This survey builds on an earlier one completed over twenty years ago, primarily in the United States, which was conducted by Helen A. Berger and Andras Arthen (of the EarthSpirit Community) entitled the Pagan Census.

"A number of scholars have noted that it would be helpful to have a follow-up of that survey to see if and how the community has changed or remained the same. The survey that follows uses many, although not all of the same questions that were in the original survey to provide that comparison. bombing baths and other terrorist activity

so this weekend entailed not breaking the kid, check, shopping for food, check, getting vegetables and fruit, check, and making bath bombs, or fizzies,

so having just gotten out of a bath with one of these bath bombs that i made, i and somewhat disappointed and not all at the same time. it would seem that with the added sea salt and epsom salts the bath bomb becomes heavy, and while fizzies well and good it dosn't zip around the bath or float like the ones from lush, but then they don't have sea salt or epsom salts, .... however the smell was pretty good and i vaugly remember what i put in it, frankincense, patchouli, and maybe cinnamon... not sure.. and of course i forgot to write it down.. *doh*.. and the oils are nice on my skin.. hmmm.. nice..

hmm.. could be more bath bomb making in a couple of weeks... might have to play more with bath melts to,, maybe add powdered milk and see what happens...

so last night my flatmate tied me up and someone took photos, which is to say it was my first foray into modelling in front of a flashing light bulbs and photographer.. it was an interesting experience.. and a lot of fun. needless to say there way much laughter and giggling along with being asked to make the penis face.. *smirks*.. what face do you make when you think of erect penises? *smirks more*..

there was also umbrellas, fabric, floggers, wips and ball gags..... well golly!!

so soonish there will be some samples here.. for those who wanna see.. *grins*

the evening finished with smoking out side a high skool, a uni-cycling teen, fish'n'chips, hotwaterbottles, and then a absolutely fabulously wonderful sleep...

this morning, there has been a lot of ponderings, and i would like to say that rope is more interesting and ball gags are fun especially with someone you trust... *smiles*

today there was baking, cupcakes and muffins, they are both yummie.. there was also listening to Druidcast, and Elemental Castings in the kitchen while i was baking, which made me feel very witchy. the muffins and cupcakes are of course now magical..teheh

also today there was an amount of monthly pain that is unplesant, and i have run out of the pills i take.. ack... meeep.... i am fine for the moment but will be trooping down to the chemist tomorrow morning to get more.. "scarcasium" that will be fun! not....

this evening there is much hanging out with a hotwater bottle cups of tea and internets.. which is nice..

despite the not so fun bits of today, its been a very good day yay...

questions about magic and ethics

if its an illegal act in the physical world then is it the same act in magical world,

i think a clarification is needed here. By magical world i figure that this question is asking about th either, were the spirits hang out, so to speak, in the other planes of existence that are not the physical world that we inhabit, the mundane world, the magical world.

i am guessing that this question is not asking if stabbing someone with the pointy end of your atheme during a ritual is it an illegal act in the physical world. But more to do with what you do when you are astral travelling or journeying in these other worlds.

for example,, if you did a ritual or spell that had the intention of killing of a specific person, lets call them bob, who is of the physical and bob dies , is it illegal, is it an illegal act that you can be arrested for?

what happens when you go to the police station and say um... bob died because of a ritual and spell that i did? I am guessing that there could be some issues of being taken seriously.. but still.... given todays modern pagan understanding of magic and how it works, is the individual who performed the ritual and or spell criminally responsible for the death of bob?

another example, if you cause an illness in someone else, say like poisoning with herbs, though magic,? it would be easier for the authorities to see if you had given someone some herbs and they were poison and bob ingested thus detectable... right...

so what if you caused the illness that bob has not using a spell instead of herbs, ?

this in many ways comes down to whether or not the law recognise magic as being a real force that can really affect people to the degree of killing them or making them sick..

this was all over the New Zealand news papers not so long ago. Something is to contemplate... cause these people used magic to kill someone.. it was an accident. but still magic was involved... and while it was not Modern or Neo pagan magic, it certainly was real to the people who were enacting the rite.

So if it is illegal in the physical world then is the same act in the magic world also illegal, and if so how would you go about policing such things...

ok so there is a todo about erections in womens erotic magazines, and by womens erotic magazines i mean the thinking womens crumpet in print from. While it is not illegal to have erections in picture form in erotic magazines, it has not been done, which points at a double standard in the mens and womens naught bits magazines. Well golly, really! i would like to say that i am shocked but alas i am not *pouts*.. However this issues is being addressed by a friend of mine

who has and is the editor of her very own erotic womens magazine, which is a fantastic magazine.. casue it does not have articles about fashion, weight, makeup and famous people, instead it has interesting articles about interesting women who have interesting jobs, articles about interesting vegetables, articles on sex, and stuff that intelligent sexy women find intereting *takes breath* it also has nude pictures of HAWT men.. aimed specifically at women who want to look at erotic pictures of naked men. these are not rehashed pictures of gay men, (cause you know that most women can spot a gay man at 100 paces thus pictures of naked gay men while pretty are not always erotic, so to speak) these nude men are also not muscle bound hunks, instead they are sexy men who are real.. i like that realness.. and good attractive poses...and well damn fine to look at thank you very much.. (need i really say excellent wank material? *smirks*...

anyhow as the title above suggests there is now a filament erection campaign in getting a tasteful spread of a tasty man with an erecting going on in the magazine. there has been some issues with getting it printed as most printers will not touch it because *gasp* it has a picture of a man on the front, and *gasp* one of the nude pictures on the inside has an erection ... never mind that they print magazines mens magazines, with women and their bits all out there for the world to see as a matter of fact... their excuse (the printers),,, "women might find it offensive" the mind boggles, and makes me want to ask.. so you are saying the women who are wanting to buy Filament an erotic womens magazine, if we are to be honest a womens porn magazine, with pictures of naked men that they can look at and get all hot and bothered about, and it has a picture of said naked men with an erection, .. ... .. .. they might be offended? please to be explaining how that works again?
